How to have a business that impacts the world and supports your wellbeing and work life balance.
Are you dedicating your time to helping and developing others, often leaving you out of energy?

A few years ago I watched a film called The Cleaners, a documentary about content moderators based in the Philippines working for a widely used social network. The idea is that these teenagers or young adults are employed to filter violent, cruel, abusive, unethical content from that social network so that we, the rest of the network users, are spared from watching it.
As a side effect however, these young kids/adults watch thousands of drastic posts for 8hrs a day or more, assessing and deleting what is acceptable for the public to see, and what is not, based on criteria they are given. Very disturbing story and an interesting film to watch.
Where I am getting with this?
When I saw this film years ago, I saw a thread of similarity in my own life at that point. It kind of stroke me that, in a very (and very luckily) different scenario, I also was compromising on my own wellbeing for the greater good and vision I was working for.
As heroic as it may sound - putting a mission and others before you - it’s VERY inefficient!
Here are FIVE SUCCESS HABITS to help both you and your business flourish, so that you keep creating that powerful impact sustainably:
Tip #1 - Set a daily Wellbeing goal EQUAL to your Business goal
As you would do for your business goal, approach your wellbeing goal with the same importance:
Plan for it, put it in your diary, focus on it, reflect on it and if you haven’t nailed it this time, see where you can adjust and retune and try again.
Action: I invite you to set your Wellbeing goal for today now.
Tip #2 - Keep your most valuable assets in focus - always
Be clear on the things that really, and I mean REALLY, matter to you long term. Have these always on your mind and say ‘no’ to what is not in line with these. Your health and relationships have to be part of your top list and need to be incorporated in how we run businesses. Both, for you and for those working in our business. Action: Who do you need to let know what is no longer acceptable?
Tip #3 - Your value is not equal to the amount of work you do
Celebrate your small and all incremental successes, not only the huge goals. Remember to acknowledge yourself and those working in your business for the minor improvements and breakthroughs you/they have implemented.
If you are used to overlooking those daily tasks you do day in and day out, feel like you're never done, never getting there and keep doing more and more. I get it. And this tip is especially for you.
Action: If you haven't done point 1 yet, please do it now.
Tip #4 - It is what we do every day that matters
Your daily habits, your daily behaviours, every single choice you make daily are taking you a certain direction. That is the Law of Cause and Effect. For every action, there is a reaction.
One of my favourite saying, easy to say and sometimes not so easy to always realise is:
"We always have a choice and we are always making a choice. Even not making a choice is a choice."
Tip #5 - Be kind and know when it’s time to be happy
Business can be competitive, focused on numbers, strategies, growth, scaling and we can get caught up in it all. There is a great book called Psychology of Money. In essence, is about greed and knowing when to stop.
I invite you to define ‘your own idea of success’ and recognise when it’s time to realise that you are happy to be where you are, and enjoy it!
Remember what you started your business for.
